Job Title: Real Estate Litigation/Landlord-Tenant Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A New York City-based law firm is seeking a skilled attorney with a background in real estate litigation, specifically landlord-tenant matters, to support a thriving practice representing property owners and developers. The ideal candidate will have experience in New York landlord-tenant proceedings, litigation strategy, and real estate agreements. This role offers consistent court appearances, active participation in trials, and the opportunity for direct interaction with a diverse and well-established client base. The position is structured to provide a hybrid work model with in-office collaboration and remote flexibility.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in daily New York City Landlord-Tenant court appearances

  • Prepare and argue motions, including motions for summary judgment and to compel

  • Draft and review predicate notices such as:

    • Rent demands

    • Notices to cure

    • Termination notices

    • Holdover and non-payment petitions

  • Compose pleadings in contract-based actions involving lease or guaranty breaches

  • Draft and negotiate lease modifications, surrender agreements, and similar documents

  • Provide strategic legal advice to real estate owners and managers across asset types, with a regional focus on the NYC market

  • Participate in trials and settlement negotiations

  • Support litigation in related areas such as commercial and construction disputes (as needed)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in landlord-tenant and real estate litigation

  • Familiarity with NYC landlord-tenant procedural and substantive legal issues

  • Ability to manage a high volume of court appearances and filings

  • Strong written and verbal advocacy skills

  • Practical experience in negotiating and drafting real estate-related agreements

  • Exposure to commercial litigation or construction disputes is advantageous

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar is required

Skills:

  • Litigation and trial readiness

  • Legal drafting and negotiation

  • Knowledge of real estate law (residential and commercial)

  • Strategic problem-solving and case management

  • Strong interpersonal communication for client-facing roles

Job Location:

  • New York City, NY

  • A hybrid model with at least 3 in-office days per week and up to 2 days remote
