Salary: Starting at $85,000 per year, but may be higher based on relevant experience.

Overview: The ULC has been drafting and seeking enactment of nonpartisan state legislation since 1892 in areas where uniformity among states is desirable. The organization's products include over a hundred uniform and model laws in various areas of law.
Job Description:
- Provide support for ULC commissioners in enacting uniform laws in state legislatures
- Organize coalitions of local advocates and draft testimony for committee hearings
- Communicate complex legal information quickly and clearly to non-lawyers
- Liaise with other organizations and work closely with state legislators to build support for enactment of uniform laws
- Research and write memos about potential new projects and assist with in-house legal tasks
- Attend legislative hearings and meetings with stakeholders
- Work a hybrid or remote schedule after a training period
- Travel may be required, particularly during prime state legislative session months
- Attendance at the ULC's annual meeting and occasional weekend meetings is required
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
- Experience working collaboratively with other organizations
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Creativity, professionalism, and ability to adapt to changing legislative and legal demands
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to take ownership and solve problems quickly
- . degree from an ABA-accredited law school
- Admission to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction
- Minimum of one year's experience in law practice, government, or government relations
- Legislative or policy experience at the state level preferred
- Experience in areas of law in which the ULC has drafted uniform acts may be helpful
Compensation and Benefits:
- Starting salary of $85,000 per year, but may be higher based on relevant experience
