Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Alternative Investments
Job Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensure self and client service teams comply with all company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Apply understanding of client’s unique circumstances and prepare required filings using a system of review and documentation.
- Ensure all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected and communicate missing items.
- Utilize company compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborate effectively with Principals, Senior Managers, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates on project completion.
- Deliver high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Lead complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Manage engagement, including billing, collections, and the budget for projects.
- Build and manage client relationships and assist in developing new clients and opportunities.
- Document client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
Tax Consulting:
- Identify, develop, recommend, and implement efficient and effective tax strategies.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage teams of Senior Managers, Managers, Tax Seniors, and Associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
Experience:
- Ten or more years of relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience is required.
- Financial Services industry experience supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA or Licensed Attorney, or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent is required.
- CFP or Masters in Tax is preferred.
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
