Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in New Haven, CT, is currently expanding its litigation team and seeks an experienced Associate Attorney with a strong background in defending professional liability matters. This opportunity sits within a collaborative practice group focused on client advocacy and long-term development. Ideal candidates will bring a minimum of five years of litigation experience, particularly in areas such as legal malpractice defense, employment-related claims, commercial disputes, insurance coverage issues, and other professional liability matters. This role offers consistent exposure to sophisticated litigation and meaningful client interaction.

Duties:

  • Handle all phases of professional liability litigation from inception through resolution

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, and arbitrations

  • Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery

  • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and case evaluations

  • Interact with clients, including attorneys, insurers, and professionals in regulated industries

  • Collaborate with partners and peers on strategic litigation decisions

  • Manage caseload efficiently while meeting deadlines and reporting expectations

  • Participate in business development and relationship-building opportunities with clients

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of civil litigation experience

  • Demonstrated expertise in professional liability or closely related practice areas

  • Strong litigation skills, including deposition, motion practice, and courtroom advocacy

  • Proven ability to manage files independently and work within team-based models

  • Familiarity with insurance defense protocols preferred

  • Knowledge of federal litigation procedures is advantageous

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills

  • Effective oral communication and advocacy abilities
