A leading law firm with a national intellectual property practice is seeking a Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to support its growing IP group. This position is ideal for candidates with a background in mechanical engineering and a passion for innovation, patent law, and long-term career development in a collaborative legal environment.

Draft and prosecute domestic and international patent applications
Conduct prior art searches and patentability analyses
Prepare responses to office actions from the USPTO
Assist with client counseling on IP strategy and portfolio development
Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal teams to protect innovative technologies
Support IP-related due diligence and litigation as needed
Monitor updates in patent law and contribute to internal knowledge development
1–3 years of experience in patent prosecution
Undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering (required)
Strong academic credentials
Demonstrated interest in building a long-term career in intellectual property law
Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and independently
Commitment to client service and responsiveness
Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school
Active registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Admission to a state bar or eligibility to obtain licensure in the applicable jurisdiction
Technical writing proficiency and attention to detail
Strong legal research and analytical abilities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Understanding of engineering concepts and patent prosecution procedures
Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced practice group
