A law firm seeks a passionate and skilled associate attorney to join its dynamic civil rights litigation team. This role focuses on advocating for justice in cases involving wrongful convictions, police and prosecutorial misconduct, prisoners' rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. The position offers significant responsibility, frequent opportunities for oral advocacy, and trial experience. The firm handles cases nationwide, with a primary focus on federal courts within the Second Circuit.

Duties

  • Conduct post-conviction investigations and assist in litigating wrongful conviction cases.
  • Represent clients in cases involving police misconduct, prosecutorial wrongdoing, and violations of prisoners' rights.
  • Advocate for LGBTQ+ rights through impactful litigation.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, and briefs.
  • Manage discovery processes, including depositions and document production.
  • Participate in oral advocacy, hearings, and trial proceedings.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys to develop case strategies and deliver exceptional client service.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case development.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree with graduation from law school between 2017 and 2021.
  • Admission to at least one state bar, with preference for eligibility to practice in federal courts within the Second Circuit.
  • Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public interest law and civil rights advocacy.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation and manage multiple cases effectively.
  • Excellent research, organizational, and analytical skills.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction.
