Metropolitan Family Services is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to join our team in DuPage, Illinois. We are a comprehensive human services agency dedicated to empowering families to reach their greatest potential and positively impact their communities. As a Staff Attorney, you will play a vital role in advocating for our clients and providing them with legal advice and representation. You will work closely with a diverse team and have the opportunity to handle a full caseload of varying complexity. Your responsibilities will include interviewing clients, identifying and analyzing legal problems, conducting research, and preparing legal documents and court pleadings. You will also represent clients in litigation proceedings and communicate with opposing parties, judicial officers, and government officials.

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual with a Law Degree and admission to the Illinois Bar. Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as organizational skills, are essential for this role. You must also be able to work independently and effectively with diverse individuals and groups. The physical demands of this job include sitting and standing for extended periods, as well as occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

The starting salary for this position will range from $66,500 to $72,500 annually, depending on experience and skill level. Essential Job Functions:

- Interview clients and identify and analyze legal problems, providing legal advice and options to clients.
- Advocate and negotiate on behalf of clients to resolve cases favorably.
- Prepare and use legal documents, discovery materials, agreements, and court pleadings.
- Represent clients in litigation proceedings, using independent judgment and making tactical decisions.
- Handle a full caseload of varying complexity.
- Assist in supervising law students and volunteers.
- Work effectively with a diverse team and service population.

Qualifications:

- Law Degree and admission to the Illinois Bar.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to respond to large numbers of clients in a professional and empathetic manner.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.

Physical Demands:

- Sitting and standing for sustained periods of time.
- Frequent talking and hearing.
- Use of hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls.
- Occasional standing, bending, stretching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures.

Salary:

- Starting salary range of $66,500 to $72,500 annually, based on experience and skill level.
