Job Overview:
A law firm based in Erie, PA, is seeking a seasoned litigation attorney through a specialized legal recruiting firm. The position focuses on matters involving suspected insurance fraud and related civil litigation. This role provides an opportunity to lead both defense and affirmative actions, working closely with investigative teams to pursue claims rooted in fraudulent behavior. The attorney will be instrumental in shaping case strategies, advocating in court, and managing complex legal disputes, including cases filed under federal racketeering statutes.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with Special Investigations Units (SIUs) to evaluate, challenge, and litigate suspicious insurance claims

  • Lead civil proceedings to pursue affirmative claims, including actions under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO)

  • Craft litigation strategies for both the defense and prosecution of fraudulent claims

  • Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare motions, memoranda, and other court filings

  • Handle discovery, depositions, and examinations under oath (EUOs)

  • Represent clients at mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials

  • Manage all phases of pre- and post-trial activity in both federal and state courts

  • Negotiate settlements and prepare relevant legal documentation

  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and external partners as part of trial preparation

  • Participate in status conferences and other procedural court appearances

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in civil litigation with a focus on insurance fraud or related fields

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex case files independently

  • Prior exposure to both plaintiff and defense perspectives in insurance-related matters is advantageous

  • Proven track record of courtroom advocacy, including trial, arbitration, or similar proceedings

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania

  • Admission to Federal Court preferred

Skills:

  • Strong legal writing and drafting skills

  • Comfortable with high-volume litigation environments

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and negotiation abilities

  • Experience interfacing with insurers, investigators, and claims professionals

  • Familiarity with RICO and other fraud statutes is a significant plus
