Job Title: Trusts + Estates Senior Associate
Job Responsibilities:
- Developing comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
- Advising clients regarding the tax implications of estate planning and minimizing tax liabilities through strategies such as gift and estate tax planning.
- Handling the probate process, including court proceedings, asset valuation, debt settlement, and distribution of assets.
- Managing and administering trusts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and trust agreements.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.
- 5-8+ years of experience in estate planning, trust and estate settlement, and related tax and corporate matters, preferably in a law firm setting.
- Experience with high net worth families and individuals in estate planning and management.
- Knowledge in estate and gift tax complex planning, including CRUTS, SLATS, GRATS, FLPs, QPRTs, IDGTs, ILITs.
- Experience in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, will and trust contests, family settlement agreements, and tax preparation.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex legal concepts clearly to clients.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex financial and legal situations.
- Precision in drafting legal documents to ensure they reflect clients' intentions and comply with relevant laws.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong interest in building a book of business.
