Mohave County, located in Kingman, AZ, is seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Attorney IV (Senior/Supervising Attorney) in the Public Defender's Department. This is a full-time, unclassified position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Salary Information:
- - hourly
- $3, - $5, biweekly
- $95, - $153, annually

Job Summary:
As an Attorney IV, you will have the opportunity to perform complex legal work, including representation in court, conducting research, and defending cases. Additionally, you will have the chance to plan and direct the work of a major unit within the department. This position reports to a higher authority and may involve supervising and training other professionals, clerical staff, and paralegals.

Experience Information:
- May underfill as Attorney I, II, or III depending on qualifications and experience
- Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving history
- Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Arizona or eligible for admission by Arizona Supreme Court Rule 38(g)

Essential Job Functions:
- Represent the assigned department in courts of law
- Communicate professionally with the public, co-workers, and work contacts
- Prosecute and/or defend felony and gross misdemeanor cases, including murder cases and those involving the death penalty
- Evaluate criminal charges and determine appropriate disposition of cases
- Supervise and train assigned attorneys or others within the department
- Make presentations to various groups about the department and the law
- Assist in coordinating court dockets and scheduling hearings and trials
- Stay informed about legal and judicial matters through reading and attending training and educational classes
- Maintain accurate records and compile reports and statistics as needed

Minimum Qualifications:
- Attorney I: Admission to the Bar of the State of Arizona, Juris Doctorate from an ABA law school, willingness to attain additional knowledge through training and education
- Attorney II: Admission to the Bar of the State of Arizona, Juris Doctorate from an ABA law school, one year of professional legal experience, demonstrated trial skills
- Attorney III: Admission to the Bar of the State of Arizona, Juris Doctorate from an ABA law school, five years of professional legal experience, demonstrated trial skills at the Superior Court level
- Attorney IV: Licensed to practice law in the State of Arizona, Juris Doctorate from an ABA law school, seven years of criminal defense experience, some administrative and supervisory responsibilities

Special Job Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain it while employed in this position
- Must provide an acceptable driving history at no cost to the County

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of legal research methods and practices, court rules and procedures, and laws and regulations related to criminal law
- Ability to supervise and train others, analyze and present complex information, and maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with others, as well as comply with county policies and procedures
