Job Title: Insurance Defense Attorney (REMOTE)

Job Responsibilities:
As an insurance defense attorney, you will be integral to providing legal representation to the company's insured clients before courts and arbitration panels. Your responsibilities will include:

- Handling a moderate caseload involving low to complex exposure in automobile negligence and general liability matters.
- Meeting with claims professionals to resolve cases in the most cost-effective manner.
- Developing theories and defenses for incoming lawsuits.
- Engaging in routine motion practice, discovery, and legal research.
- Handling trials and arbitrations.
- Periodically presenting to claims partners on new developments in the law.

Education and Experience Information:
To be considered for this role, you must have:

- A minimum of 7 years of litigation experience; trial experience is a plus.
- Experience in professional liability, employment liability, or complex cases is a plus.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
- Admission to the bar and a license to practice law in the jurisdictions where assigned.

- Communication skills: Ability to exchange thoughts and opinions deliberately and precisely and translate legal language into layman's terms.
- Organizational skills: Ability to categorize and prioritize work and information to maximize productivity.
- Computer literacy: Proficiency in MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of email and calendar.
- Teamwork: Ability to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals, and support staff.
- Investigative skills: Ability to follow up on inquiries or observations, trace, track, search, or examine with care and accuracy.
- Legal research: Ability to locate cases, treaties, codified laws, and statutes and draw reasonable and accurate conclusions or opinions.
- Courtroom skills: Familiarity with courtroom behavior, attire, decorum, and the rules governing proceedings and conduct in legal forums.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Ability to use a personal computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Ability to travel as necessary, with 25-30% travel within the state for court appearances, depositions, and mediations.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.

Salary Information:
- Hiring minimum rate: $130,000 USD
- Hiring maximum rate: $170,000 USD
