Job Title: Japanese Business Services Federal Tax Manager - Global Compliance and Reporting
Job Responsibilities:
As a Japanese Business Services Tax Manager at the company, you will be immersed in the evolving tax environment, working closely with a wide range of US and Inbound Japanese clients. Your role will involve preparing and auditing income tax provisions, assisting with income tax filings, consulting on planning opportunities, and coaching and developing staff on your engagement teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting client engagements by reviewing staff work product, coordinating with clients and internal team members, managing deadlines, and tracking engagement economics.
- Identifying and resolving tax technical issues and sharing insights to improve processes and overall efficiency.
- Providing domestic federal tax advice and guidance tailored to the unique needs of US and Japanese Inbound clients.
- Keeping up to date with ongoing trends and changes to legislation affecting planning activities.
- Supervising high-performing teams and sharing experience and knowledge of leading practices.
- Building relationships at all levels, both internally and externally, to promote a culture of collaboration.
- Preparing practical recommendations to address clients’ complex tax issues.
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a graduate degree in Tax or Law, with a minimum of approximately five+ years of related work experience.
- Progress toward (or completion of) a valid CPA certification or licensed attorney status.
- A background in tax compliance and accounting for income tax and a broad understanding of US income taxation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, and data mining tools.
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple projects and the confidence to engage and integrate directly into clients’ teams.
- Fluency in Japanese.
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- A proven record in a professional services environment.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to adapt your work style to work with both internal and client team members.
Salary Information:
The company offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $102,600 to $188,000. In the New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento), the base salary range is $123,100 to $213,700. Individual salaries within these ranges are determined by a variety of factors, including education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
