Minimum Requirements:
Law Clerk (Non-Bar Member): Graduation from an accredited school of law and eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination.

Law Clerks of the Superior Court are prohibited by Court policy from practicing law, receiving fees, and appearing in court representing another party as counsel during their employment by the Court as a Law Clerk.

This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort, which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
Responsibilities
The Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Law Clerk. Law Clerks are responsible for conducting legal research, analyzing motions and other matters on calendar, and preparing written recommendations for judicial officers. This is a limited term position, with a maximum employment period of 30 months. Some of the key responsibilities of a Law Clerk include:
Conducting legal research on civil, criminal, family law, and probate matters.
Summarizing and evaluating motions and providing recommendations to judicial officers.
Researching and analyzing policies and procedures related to court proceedings.
Coordinating with judicial officers and court staff to schedule relief coverage when necessary.
Delivering and picking up files from courtrooms, as well as responding to questions from court staff on legal issues.
Drafting correspondence on behalf of judicial officers to counsel and litigants.
Assisting with various court-related duties as directed by the judicial officer.
Qualifications
The minimum requirements for this position include graduation from an accredited school of law and eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination. Alternatively, candidates may also be licensed to practice law in the state of California and be an active member in good standing of the State Bar of California. The ideal candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to conduct legal research independently, and manage competing priorities effectively.
