Criminal Defense Attorney The candidate will interview clients and client witnesses. Review paperwork, items of discovery, and related case evidence. Handle arraignments, including motions for reasonable bail or release without bail. Schedule follow-up court appearances. Prepare motions for factual and legal sufficiency. In felony cases, prepare for possible Grand Jury presentments, including witness preparation and client advice concerning the assessment of the case, evidence, and exposure. Conduct trials in courts of law, when appropriate and necessary. Negotiate with prosecutors for possible dispositions. Assist attorneys of lesser experience in performing their professional obligations as set forth above. Should have a degree from an accredited Law School. Admission to the California State Bar (Required). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Credible and discrete, with a high level of integrity and the ability to work with highly confidential and privileged information. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
