Job Title: Tax Experienced Senior, Alternative Investments
Job Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual.
- Apply understanding of clients' unique circumstances to prepare required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation.
- Collect all necessary data to comply with filing requirements and communicate missing items to prepare returns.
- Use company compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax preparation process.
- Collaborate effectively with Managers and Associates on project completion.
- Deliver high-quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services.
- Lead complex engagements with a team of tax professionals.
- Manage the engagement, including billing, collections, and the budget for projects.
- Document client work and conclusions in the client tax file.
Tax Consulting
- Assist with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies.
Other Duties
- Perform other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Mentor teams of Associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is required. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in another focus area with CPA certification is required.
- A Master's Degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
Experience:
- Three or more years of tax experience are required.
- Experience in the Financial Services industry supporting Alternative Investment funds, including Venture Capital, Private Equity, Real Estate, and Hedge Funds, is preferred.
- Proficiency in the taxation of partnerships is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) or equivalent designation is preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Software:
- Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases is preferred.
- Proficiency in tax compliance process software is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions as directed by members of the Tax Team.
- Ability to take appropriate actions without being asked.
- Seeks advice from appropriate superiors regarding issues related to compliance.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges for various locations are as follows:
- California Range: $96,000 - $125,000
- Colorado Range: $80,000 - $100,000
- Illinois Range: $90,000 - $108,000
- Maryland Range: $95,000 - $110,000
- Massachusetts Range: $100,000 - $115,000
- Minnesota Range: $80,000 - $95,000
- New Jersey Range: $95,000 - $125,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $100,000 - $120,000
- Washington Range: $83,000 - $115,000
- Washington DC Range: $100,000 - $115,000
