Job Title: Fall Internship
Job Responsibilities:
Interns selected for the internship with Senator Mitch McConnell's office may be assigned as either legislative or press interns. The responsibilities for each role are as follows:
- Legislative Interns:
- Assist staff by researching current legislation.
- Draft constituent responses.
- Perform other daily office duties such as sorting mail, making copies, giving tours of the Capitol, and answering telephones.
- Press Interns:
- Assist staff by tracking current news and legislation.
- Assist with press events.
- Draft press releases.
- Perform other daily office duties such as sorting mail, making copies, giving tours of the Capitol, and answering telephones.
Education and Experience Information:
Interns are selected based on strong scholastic and extracurricular achievements as well as an interest in the governmental process. The program is open to any college student who is a resident of Kentucky.
Salary Information:
Paid internships are offered throughout the year in three sessions - summer, spring, and fall. Summer internships are the most competitive due to the high volume of applications. Two summer sessions are offered, each approximately six weeks long. Part-time internships are available in the Senator's state offices on a volunteer basis, geared toward interns seeking to earn college credit.

- Washington interns are responsible for their own housing, living, and travel expenses.
- Interns can enjoy cultural experiences in Washington ., such as visiting Smithsonian Museums, National Monuments, and attending local events.
