Staff Attorney The candidate attends and represents the Trustee at hearings before the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia and other Courts for confirmation, motions to dismiss, and other matters as necessary. Reviews all relevant documents and pleadings to prepare for the 341 meeting of creditors. Attends and conducts meetings of creditors. Prepares legal documents such as objections to confirmation, motions to dismiss, proposed orders, objections to modifications, responses to pleadings, objections to proofs of claim, briefs, and withdrawals of pleadings using sound legal judgment. Reviews cases for eligibility under Chapter 13 of the . Bankruptcy Code and recommends cases for confirmation, dismissal, or conversion. Communicates with the Bankruptcy Court, debtors, debtors attorneys, creditors, creditors attorneys, and other parties?in? interest regarding case information and requirements. Reviews and responds to correspondence, amendments, modifications, motions, and orders to determine the impact on the case. Makes recommendations to the Bankruptcy Court based on case activity. Assists the office staff with reviewing and resolving problems identified within cases. Reviews cases to identify whether they require business case treatment. Reviews cases subject to motions to dismiss and strict compliance dismissal. Works with the Trustee, Director of Operations, and other staff attorneys to create and implement strategies, policies, and procedures to effectively administer cases. Should have a law degree. Admittance as a lawyer in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Compliance with the State Bar of Georgia Continuing Education requirements. Strong legal writing skills. The ability to read and comprehend instructions in English. The ability to comprehend and effectively use legal and bankruptcy terminology. The ability to present information in an appropriate and professional manner. The ability to review information, ask relevant questions and utilize answers to analyze data. The ability to maintain confidentiality. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
