Job Title: Tax Senior Manager - Real Estate
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Senior Manager in the Real Estate Practice is responsible for consulting on complex tax matters and overseeing the tax compliance process for businesses primarily related to real estate, ensuring adherence to state and federal tax regulations. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and sustaining excellent customer relationships with top real estate companies.
- Collaborating cross-functionally within the company to grow existing business and offer various business solutions.
- Analyzing and observing industry trends to advise customers during times of disruption and uncertainty.
- Continuously building and improving specialty area knowledge for professional development.
- Conducting technical reviews of tax returns and undertaking tax research to produce accurate and efficient work products.
- Reviewing operating agreements, letters of intent, purchase agreements, and other tax transaction-related documents.
- Developing workpapers supporting partnership allocations, basis adjustments, and other complex tax matters.
- Managing and monitoring the economic performance of customer engagements, including billing and collections.
- Actively communicating engagement progress, managing workflow, and ensuring proper planning and coordination with the team.
- Providing effective performance feedback and on-the-job training, celebrating and awarding excellence in performance.
- Attracting and retaining top talent by engaging the team throughout their career.
- Developing and growing a business network with colleagues, referral relationships, potential customers, and external organizations.
- Representing the company in the business community and being active within professional organizations.
- Being an active member of the local community by giving back and providing services to others.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law; a Master’s in Tax/LLM is preferred.
- A minimum of 7+ years of recent public accounting firm experience, including managing multiple real estate tax projects and customer engagements.
- Experience developing team members, assigning projects, and managing workflow.
- Significant experience working within the real estate industry on all types of entity and individual taxes, particularly Partnerships.
- Experience analyzing flow-through entity distribution and profit/loss language in Operating Agreements.
- CPA certification is required.
- Leadership and project/team management skills.
- Excellent communication and networking acumen.
- Ability to manage and grow strong customer relationships.
- Experience with tax software and technology.
