Job Title: Special Projects Coordinator (Statewide Behavioral Health Administrator)

Job Responsibilities:
The Special Projects Coordinator, serving as the Statewide Behavioral Health Administrator, will be responsible for a wide range of tasks aimed at enhancing the Unified Court System's (UCS) approach to behavioral health issues within the justice system. Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing a strategic plan based on the recommendations of the National Judicial Task Force to improve the court system's response to mental illness.
- Representing the UCS on various behavioral health and justice-related committees and workgroups, advocating for policies and proposals that improve behavioral health outcomes.
- Recommending rules and policies related to behavioral health and supporting the UCS’ Mental Health Task Force.
- Ensuring effective communication and collaboration among different agencies and government branches on behavioral health issues.
- Staying informed on the latest trends and practices in court management and behavioral health, both locally and nationally.
- Conducting outreach at national, state, and local conferences to discuss and promote behavioral health and justice initiatives.
- Collaborating with problem-solving court administrators on mental and behavioral health matters to improve court processes and outcomes.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the position must meet one of the following educational and professional experience criteria:

- Admission to the New York State Bar with at least five years of relevant legal experience; or
- A Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited college or university, along with five years of relevant experience.

Preference will be given to individuals who have demonstrated experience in behavioral health policy implementation and/or a solid understanding of federal and state laws and regulations related to behavioral health services and court systems.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the Special Projects Coordinator position is between $140,000 and $170,000, with an additional location pay of $4,920 for those based in NYC and Westchester.

The position is classified as non-competitive/confidential, and while the role may be based in Manhattan, Albany, or Westchester Counties, it requires in-person attendance and involves travel throughout New York and potentially out-of-state.
