Job Title: Workers’ Rights Directing Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
The Workers’ Rights Directing Attorney is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive legal services provided to low-wage workers facing workplace rights violations such as wage theft, discrimination, and retaliation. Key responsibilities include:

- Overseeing direct legal services, designing systems for case management, quality control, and data tracking.
- Training, mentoring, supervising, and supporting the development of a diverse team of attorneys, advocates, volunteers, and interns.
- Developing and advancing program strategy in collaboration with other members of the workers’ rights practice.
- Identifying cases and overseeing workers’ rights litigation, including employment class actions and discrimination lawsuits, in partnership with the Litigation Director.
- Managing an independent caseload for legal representation of low-wage workers.
- Assisting the Executive Director as part of the Senior Management Team with organizational growth and development.
- Supporting budgeting and fundraising efforts, including preparing annual budgets, grant applications, and reports.
- Strengthening the administrative infrastructure to ensure efficient protocols.
- Tracking and analyzing program metrics, including case and outreach deliverables.
- Overseeing relationships with worker centers and community partners to provide legal education, outreach, and services.
- Collaborating with local, regional, and state partners on policy initiatives and litigation efforts.
- Serving as a media contact and expert spokesperson for the workers’ rights practice.

Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the California Bar in good standing.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in employment law or direct legal services is required, with 8+ years preferred.
- Experience with Berman hearings, plaintiff-side employment litigation, and mediation is strongly preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and experience managing legal services staff.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
- Excellent skills in writing, research, analysis, and verbal communication.
- Ability to work cooperatively with lawyers, staff, and diverse community organizations.
- Knowledge and adherence to community and movement lawyering principles.
- Commitment to civil liberties, workers’ rights, and public interest law.

Salary Information:
The position is full-time and exempt, offering a competitive salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $108,914 to $119,369.
