Job Title: Senior Staff or Staff Attorney, Democracy: Voting Rights Litigation Team

Job Responsibilities:
The attorney will work within the Democracy - Voting Rights Litigation Team, focusing on litigation and advocacy efforts across the Deep South. Responsibilities include collaborating with community partners and organizers to engage and mobilize voters, restoring voting rights to returning citizens, pursuing electoral policy reforms, and challenging unconstitutional and discriminatory voting practices through litigation. The attorney will lead litigation in state and federal courts across five focus states, engage in extensive research and factual investigations, write motions, briefs, and other court filings, conduct discovery, and participate in court appearances and oral arguments. They will identify and develop new cases and litigation strategies, mentor and train legal staff and interns, participate in relevant task forces and coalitions, and work closely with other departments within the organization to advance policy objectives. Additionally, the attorney will engage in public speaking and articulate the organization's policies and programs on voting rights issues.

Education and Experience Information:
- Staff Attorney I-II: Requires at least one (1) year of federal court civil litigation or comparable experience post law school.
- Senior Staff Attorney I-IV: Requires at least six (6) years of federal court civil litigation or comparable experience post law school.
- Membership in good standing of at least one state bar in the United States, preferably in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, or Washington, .
- A Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Salary Information:
This is an exempt role with a minimum starting salary of $73, annually, based on legal experience post law school. The salary structure is as follows:
- Staff Attorney I (1-3 years out of law school): $73,.
- Staff Attorney II (4-5 years out of law school): $84,.
- Senior Staff Attorney I (6 & 7 years out of law school): $97,.
- Senior Staff Attorney II (8 & 9 years out of law school): $112,.
- Senior Staff Attorney III (10 & 11 years out of law school): $129,.
- Senior Staff IV (12+ years out of law school): $148,.
