Job Title: Juvenile Rights Practice Legal Intern - Fall 2025

Job Responsibilities:
The Juvenile Rights Practice (JRP) Legal Intern will work directly under the supervision of JRP attorneys at the organization. The role involves mandatory supervision, where the intern will be required to attend training sessions and practice-wide webinars relevant to their internship assignments. The intern will work in an interdisciplinary team that includes social workers, paralegals, and investigators, providing legal representation to children aged 0 to 21 who are involved in New York City Family Courts. These cases may include issues related to child welfare, Persons-in-Need-of-Supervision (PINS), juvenile delinquency, adolescent offenders, and termination of parental rights.

Education and Experience Information:
- Current 2L law school student in good standing
- Relevant clinical program or work experience is preferred
- Commitment to children’s issues and juvenile justice is essential
- Ability to manage and interact effectively with children, adolescents, and family members
- Ability to work collaboratively in a high-volume practice
- Demonstrated commitment and interest in serving racially and socioeconomically oppressed communities

Salary Information:
This is an unpaid internship position. However, there is an opportunity for interns who meet specific eligibility criteria to receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. This stipend aims to support 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship. The stipend will be awarded through a lottery system and treated as taxable income.

- Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at any accredited institution
- Complete the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form at the time of submitting their internship application
- Be accepted to participate in an internship program at the organization
- Demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship
- Submit a statement reflecting their strong interest in working at the organization upon graduation
