Law Reform Legal Intern - Fall 2025
Job Responsibilities
The law reform legal intern will work under the Legal Aid Society's law reform units, which focus on impact litigation and policy initiatives to address systemic issues affecting the society's clients. The intern's responsibilities will vary depending on the specific needs of the assigned unit. Tasks may include conducting legal and factual research, interviewing clients, participating in discovery and trial practice, contributing to legal papers, policy memos, or legislative testimony, and other related tasks. The intern must have a keen interest in issues affecting the rights of Legal Aid’s clients and be committed to racial and social justice.
Education and Experience Information
Candidates must be 2L or 3L law students in good standing with their educational institutions. Applicants should have excellent research, writing, and communication skills. They should be able to analyze complex legal and policy issues, take initiative to see projects through to completion, and have a demonstrated interest in the rights of Legal Aid’s clients, particularly in the units they prioritize.
Salary Information
As this is an intern position, there is no salary offered. However, eligible interns have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 stipend from the Howard Rossbach fund. This stipend is awarded through a lottery system to 4-5 interns annually who demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship. The stipend is treated as taxable income.

To be considered for the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend, applicants must:
- Be enrolled as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student at any accredited institution.
- Complete the Howard Rossbach Internship Stipend Form when submitting their internship application.
- Be accepted to participate in an internship program at **Members Only**
- Demonstrate financial need and lack funding for their internship.
- Submit a statement reflecting their strong interest in working at Legal Aid upon graduation.
Application deadline details and the stipend application process require that applicants fill out the stipend form during the submission of their internship application. Only one application per applicant per year is allowed. If more than 4 or 5 applicants are eligible, recipients are selected by lottery. Selected interns will be notified before the start of their internships.
