Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm based in Valhalla, NY, is seeking a litigation associate with 1–4 years of experience to join its dedicated medical malpractice and healthcare defense team. This position offers a hybrid work model and the opportunity to work on high-impact cases representing healthcare providers and institutions. Ideal candidates will possess strong analytical and communication skills and a proactive approach to client service and litigation strategy.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop a case strategy for defending medical malpractice claims

  • Draft and review litigation materials, including pleadings, briefs, memoranda, and discovery documents

  • Analyze and interpret medical records for case development

  • Appear in court proceedings, including motions, conferences, and hearings

  • Conduct and participate in depositions

  • Consult with and prepare medical experts

  • Perform legal and medical research to support case arguments

  • Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and strategy

  • Coordinate with team members across cases for efficiency and knowledge-sharing

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of New York

  • 1 to 4 years of litigation experience with a focus on medical malpractice or healthcare matters

  • Courtroom and deposition experience preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing with the New York State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and persuasive writing skills

  • Confident in managing client relationships and communicating complex legal issues

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks under deadlines

  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently when needed

  • Experience interpreting complex medical documentation is a plus
