A law firm seeks a highly skilled Intellectual Property Associate with a background in chemical engineering and a focus on patent transactional work. This position is ideal for a candidate with a proven track record of managing . and international patent portfolios and a portable book of business. Duties

  • Manage and grow . and international patent portfolios for a diverse range of clients
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on intellectual property matters, with an emphasis on chemical engineering
  • Lead patent transactional work including patent licensing, acquisitions, and mergers
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of patent applications, working closely with inventors and stakeholders
  • Draft and negotiate agreements related to intellectual property, including technology transfer and joint ventures
  • Develop new business and maintain existing client relationships
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and technical experts to deliver top-quality services to clients

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in intellectual property law, specifically with patent transactional work
  • Strong portfolio of business generation ($600k+), with proven production history
  • Extensive experience managing patent portfolios for domestic and international clients
  • Expertise in chemical engineering and its applications in patent law
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team
  • Licensed to practice law in good standing in the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is admitted

Education

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field is required
