Senior Claim Advocate
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Claim Advocate at Company serves as a critical resource for clients, utilizing their claim expertise to positively influence claim outcomes and insurance recoveries. The primary responsibilities include ensuring the quality and consistency of all claim products and services. The advocate will handle clients directly as a consultant and may lead other consultants. They play a key role in partnering with regional business and industry leadership to support growth, drive innovation, and ensure the execution of the company's business strategy. The role requires oversight, direction, and management of claim activities for assigned clients or consulting projects. Key duties include:
- Managing claims with a focus on Environmental and Life Sciences claims
- Analyzing coverage considering relevant facts and contractual issues, ensuring understanding and proper application of coverage
- Documenting and communicating claim activity to clients promptly and effectively
- Influencing appropriate settlement authority and maximizing insurance recovery for clients
- Partnering with clients' internal and external counsel to set and pursue effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies
- Overseeing the authorization and issuance of indemnity and expense payments by carriers
- Preparing dashboard and other reports regarding claim analytics
- Managing, organizing, and retaining insurance claims records and correspondence
- Liaising between internal team members, insurance carriers, and defense counsel to support daily claims administration
- Addressing and resolving requests for information efficiently
Leadership responsibilities include promoting and fostering company culture and values, managing resources across the assigned territory, maintaining relationships with internal and external partners, coordinating service requests, participating in meetings, and providing ideas and strategies to strengthen the practice. The advocate is expected to be a strong external presence through speaking engagements, articles, and associations. They will also provide informal assistance, technical guidance, and training to coworkers, lead project teams, and supervise assignments of lower-level employees.
Technical responsibilities involve ensuring quality and consistency in executing high-level claim services, engaging the global network of professionals as needed, utilizing systems appropriately, improving quality and innovation, monitoring vendor partner performance, handling complex cases and special requests, and staying current on emerging claim issues and trends.
In terms of growth and retention, the advocate will support new business with sales presentations and RFP responses, participate in strategic large client team meetings, manage the quality of client service agreements, regularly meet with brokerage executives, and maintain direct relationships with key clients.
Education and Experience:
Candidates for the Senior Claim Advocate role should possess a Bachelor's degree and have over seven years of experience in casualty claims, with a focus on handling complex, high-value claims from initial report to closure. A Law degree is preferred. The role requires strong technical knowledge of casualty/liability claims, including General Liability, Auto, Product, Professional, and Environmental liability. Experience in navigating and interpreting coverage issues is essential. The candidate should demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, along with strong organizational, interpretive, and analytical skills. The ability to multitask, adapt to change, and work in a fast-paced environment is crucial. Candidates must provide efficient, reliable, and courteous service to internal and external clients and effectively present information. The ability to make persuasive presentations on complex topics to clients and colleagues is also required.
Financial Knowledge:
The position requires an in-depth understanding of insurance financial terms and principles. The candidate should be able to calculate complex figures, forecast, prepare budgets, and conduct financial/business analysis, including preparing reports.
Reasoning Ability:
The role requires the ability to solve advanced problems, deal with various options in complex situations, and possess expert-level analytical and claim negotiating skills. The candidate should draw upon the analysis of others and make appropriate strategic recommendations.
Other Requirements:
