Job Title: AVP, Risk Consulting
Job Responsibilities:
The AVP, Risk Consulting at the company is tasked with a comprehensive set of responsibilities centered around analyzing potential financial impacts at a per-policy level for asbestos, environmental, other long-term exposure, and complex claims. The role involves:
- Creating Excel models to assess risk-weighted exposure to company policies for specific claims, considering different potential damages values, trigger and allocation rules, coverage defenses, and other related parameters.
- Advising claim teams and management on modeling results, focusing on parameters that significantly affect the company's potential exposure.
- Calculating carriers’ percentage shares for cost-share agreements under applicable allocation rules and evaluating the potential financial impact on the company.
- Reviewing, evaluating, and critiquing models, settlement proposals, and allocation proposals from counterparties, and presenting analysis results to claim teams and management.
- Interfacing with counterparties’ modelers to understand and evaluate the parameters used in their modeling.
- Assisting claim teams and management by providing strategic analysis input for resolving coverage disputes.
- Reviewing draft allocations and other calculations prepared by claim handlers or counsel for accuracy.
- Creating graphic coverage charts using a pre-packaged program.
- Responding to internal requests for information from management, reinsurers, auditors, etc.
- Preparing timely and accurate reports regarding work performed.
- Providing the highest levels of service to company business partners.
- Mentoring and assisting colleagues, sharing technical expertise with other staff members.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance operations and achieve organizational objectives, communicating suggestions constructively and positively.
- Some travel may be required.
Education and Experience Information:
Minimum Requirements:
- High degree of technical competence with Excel, including writing complex formulae.
- Strong analytical skills.
- A 4-year college degree.
- Preferred degree in law, actuarial science, or accounting/finance.
Desired Qualifications:
- High degree of experience in insurance coverage, preferably in asbestos, environmental, and other long-tail claims.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Organization and time management skills.
- Experience in a collaborative work environment.
- Working knowledge of using Visual Basic to create macros in Excel.
- Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office utilities.
