Job Responsibilities:
Award Negotiation and Acceptance:
- Review and negotiation of complex federal, industry, and foreign contracts and agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, data use agreements, and other agreements related to research, training, and other sponsored programs.
- Represent the Division in relationships with sponsors.
- Review, evaluate, and interpret complex contracts and agreements for compliance with university policies and applicable governmental regulations.
- Evaluate, interpret, negotiate, and apply federal and sponsor policies and regulations to determine acceptable conditions of awards, including areas such as Conflict of Interest, Export Control, Intellectual Property, Indemnity, Governing law, Cost Principles, data and information security requirements, Human use, Animal use, and lab safety.
- Coordinate with appropriate university experts and offices as needed throughout negotiations for review and feedback.
- Review official proposal budgets and scopes of work to ensure the award reflects proper indirect cost rates, budget expectations, and timelines.

Process Management:
- Maintain knowledge of university and sponsor electronic research administration systems to ensure timely and compliant post-award activities.
- Maintain accurate and complete files and records for each award or agreement.
- Ensure proposals are entered accurately into the university's system as the basis for negotiating the award.
- Ensure agreements and modifications are entered accurately and completely.
- Maintain positive and productive business relationships within the university and with its sponsors.
- Act as a liaison between faculty, campus administrators, agency officials, and federal, state, and local offices to troubleshoot issues during the course of a project.
- Participate in ensuring responsible stewardship for funds provided by external sponsors through responsible payment structures in agreements.

Other Duties:
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and non-profit sponsor regulations, policies, requirements, procedures, and other pertinent areas through self-study, research, professional development, and attendance at webinars and conferences.
- Assist in detecting areas where new regulations need to be interpreted, implemented, and communicated into existing or new policy statements and procedural guidelines.
- Identify operational problems and deficiencies and resolve them within authority limits or coordinate resolutions with the Assistant Director of Sponsored Programs.
- Identify necessary reports, upgrades, enhancements, and innovations to ensure transparent and efficient processing of industrial and federal contracts.

Education and Experience Information:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in research administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer applicants with a ., experience negotiating complex agreements, and/or research administration experience with a focus on federal grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts, along with related regulations.

Salary Information:
- Salary commensurate with experience and expertise.
