Job Title: Assistant Attorney General - White Collar & Public Integrity Division
Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant Attorney General in the White Collar & Public Integrity Division is tasked with a range of prosecutorial duties within the Criminal Bureau. This role involves handling criminal cases related to financial crime, public corruption, and insurance fraud. Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload involving fiduciary embezzlement, complex financial frauds, tax fraud schemes, and public corruption cases involving public officials and institutions.
- Prosecuting insurance fraud cases, including workers’ compensation fraud, unemployment tax and compensation fraud, motor vehicle insurance fraud, arson, false injury, and property loss claims.
- Leading and coordinating a prosecutorial team comprising a financial investigator, state trooper, victim/witness advocate, and support staff.
- Conducting joint investigations with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Overseeing formal grand jury investigations and prosecutions through trial.
- Providing leadership and oversight for the investigative and prosecutorial efforts within the Division.
- Maintaining strong working relationships with external agencies and effectively representing the Commonwealth and the Attorney General in various legal settings.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be a member of the Massachusetts Bar or eligible for admission shortly. A minimum of seven years of full-time legal experience is required, with significant experience in white collar or complex criminal litigation preferred. The ideal candidate will have:
- A demonstrated commitment to serving the public interest.
- Ability to manage complex and challenging matters simultaneously.
- Proven skills in managing large investigative teams and developing strong relationships with outside agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid Massachusetts driver’s license, as travel to various courts is necessary.
Applicants who are not yet admitted to the Massachusetts Bar may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and are required to pass the Bar within one year of their start date.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $78,586 to $117,870, which is based on the candidate's JD year and experience.
Additional Information:
- The position is based in Boston, Massachusetts, with a hybrid work model that may include some telework days. During the first six months, the Assistant Attorney General is expected to work in the office at least three days per week.
- This is a full-time, exempt position. Part-time work requests can be discussed during the interview for candidates whose full-time service is precluded by state pension laws.
