Job Title: Associate Environment & Land Use
Job Responsibilities:
The Environment & Land Use associate will be responsible for providing legal support and representation in various sectors, including renewable energy, transit and transportation, regulated utilities, housing and commercial developments, and public infrastructure. The associate will represent both public and private clients, offering expertise in land use and environmental due diligence, land use entitlements, and environmental/resource permitting. Additionally, the associate will provide counseling and ensure compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The role also involves defending zoning and/or environmental approvals in state and federal court. The associate will have opportunities to collaborate with other practice groups within the law firm, such as the Real Estate Group, the Eminent Domain & Inverse Condemnation Group, the Infrastructure Group, and the Government Relations & Regulation Group.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in the State of California and possess 2-5 years of experience in environmental law. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent writing abilities, sharp analytical skills, and a strong interest in environmental law. Experience in land use and environmental due diligence, land use entitlements, environmental/resource permitting, CEQA and NEPA counseling and compliance, and defense of zoning and/or environmental approvals in state and federal court is preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the position of a 2-5 year Associate at the law firm is $175,000 to $210,000 annually. The successful candidate’s salary is expected to be set within this range, though actual compensation will depend on various factors, including the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Associates are also eligible for various annual bonuses, including a bonus of 15% of base compensation if they meet the law firm's 1,850 annual billable hours expectation.
