Job Title: Tax Managing Director, Core Tax Services - ASC 740
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Managing Director is tasked with advising clients on the tax implications of their business decisions and evaluating methods to reduce tax burdens and compliance costs. This role involves identifying various methods to comply with tax regulations while serving as the primary contact for complex tax issues. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring clients comply with applicable tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensuring that client service teams adhere to company policies and standards.
- Managing engagements to achieve specific metrics and practicing hands-on client service delivery.
- Encouraging adherence to the company’s Tax Quality Manual policies.
- Identifying when research is needed for complex issues and guiding the engagement team in developing efficient research methodologies.
- Applying expertise in ASC 740-10, including FAS 109 and FIN 48, for tax accruals and reviewing income tax provisions efficiently.
- Assisting in developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by reducing current and future taxes.
- Developing a deep understanding of technical and practical issues in one or more areas of taxation, such as international, state and local, expatriate, transfer pricing, and more.
- Introducing and developing strategies to improve client positions by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
- Supervising associates, senior associates, and managers, providing performance feedback, and acting as a Career Advisor.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics.
- A Master’s degree in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
- A minimum of ten years of relevant tax experience and/or experience in public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services is required.
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialties is preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is required.
- A CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required. Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries are determined after considering various factors, including qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges for different locations are as follows:
- California: $190,000 - $335,000
- Colorado: $185,000 - $225,000
- Illinois: $175,000 - $250,000
- Maryland: $190,000 - $260,000
- Massachusetts: $205,000 - $300,000
- Minnesota: $170,000 - $250,000
- New Jersey: $190,000 - $300,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $205,000 - $250,000
- Washington: $196,400 - $249,400
- Washington DC: $205,000 - $300,000
