Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a Title Review Attorney to support its real estate practice with expertise in title reports, title curatives, and property surveys. This position is ideal for an attorney who brings significant experience in assessing title-related risks and resolving complex issues in real estate transactions. The role involves detailed legal review, collaboration with stakeholders, and ensuring smooth execution of title processes in commercial and residential matters.

Location:

  • Rochester, NY

Duties:

  • Review and analyze title reports, commitments, and associated documents

  • Identify and assess title defects, encumbrances, and exceptions; recommend legal solutions

  • Negotiate title insurance coverage and resolve related issues with title companies and underwriters

  • Draft title objection letters and coordinate with opposing counsel and other stakeholders

  • Review and interpret real estate surveys

  • Conduct legal research related to title issues and summarize findings

  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation; manage and track deadlines using internal systems

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate law with a focus on title review

  • Proven experience with title examination and issue resolution in transactional real estate

  • Familiarity with title insurance negotiation and curative actions

  • Experience reviewing real estate surveys

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of New York

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and legal writing skills

  • Effective verbal communication and negotiation capabilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including data entry and pivot tables)

  • Comfortable using legal databases and internal tracking systems

  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-practice teams to provide comprehensive legal support
