Job Title: Legal Content Manager
Job Responsibilities:
The Legal Content Manager is tasked with ensuring that the legal information within the organization's content management system is both legally accurate and current. This individual will coordinate a team of numerous Legal Content Volunteers (LCVs) and subject matter experts who play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and usability of legal information for lower-income residents of Illinois. Key responsibilities include monitoring legal changes and developments, ensuring timely content production, and collaborating with the program team to develop innovative ways to deliver legal information. Additionally, the Legal Content Manager is responsible for producing various content types, overseeing content producers and reviewers, leading the LCV program, coordinating events for content review, establishing metrics for the LCV program, and building relationships within the legal profession to support the organization's mission and services. The role also involves managing content evaluation and feedback, participating in organizational meetings and activities, and contributing to fundraising efforts.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Legal Content Manager position must possess a law degree (.) and have admission to the Illinois bar. A minimum of two years of legal experience is required. The role demands experience in distilling complex concepts into clear, actionable resources, strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in writing/editing with keen attention to detail. Additionally, demonstrated experience in recruiting and managing volunteers is essential. Preference is given to candidates with strong connections to the Illinois legal aid community, experience working in an Illinois legal aid organization, and experience in areas such as criminal law (including traffic), immigration, education, employment, or public benefits. Familiarity with Salesforce or similar constituent-management platforms, web-based content management systems, Jira, Slack, GSuite, or Microsoft Office is also preferred.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Legal Content Manager position is $66,000 to $75,000. The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and a health and dependent care flex spending account. Employees receive 15 paid days off and 15 holidays in the first calendar year of employment, along with a 403(b) retirement plan to which the organization contributes a required 1% of salary monthly.
