Job Description:

The New York State Unified Court System is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Court Attorney-Referee to join the Surrogate's Court in Kings County. This is a non-competitive and confidential position with a base salary of $126,278 plus $4,775 location pay. The Court Attorney-Referee will serve in a confidential capacity and work with substantial independence from supervision, conducting hearings and making decisions on complex legal issues in civil and criminal cases.
To be considered for this position, applicants must be admitted to the New York State Bar and have either three years of service in the Associate Court Attorney title or eight years of relevant legal experience gained after admission to the New York State Bar. The successful candidate will be assigned to the Law department of Surrogate Bernard Graham and will be responsible for conducting hearings, taking testimony, researching and analyzing complex legal questions, and writing confidential memoranda and drafting opinions.
