Job Title: Senior Court Attorney JG - 26

Job Responsibilities:
Senior Court Attorneys are tasked with researching and analyzing complex legal issues and questions. They may also be responsible for supervising attorneys and support staff within one or more courts throughout a county, judicial district, or department. These attorneys serve in a confidential capacity under the supervision of judges or groups of judges across various courts such as the Supreme Court, County Court, Surrogate's Court, the Court of Claims, Family Court, District Court, and the Criminal and Civil Courts of the City of New York, as well as City Courts with two or more full-time judges. They may be assigned to judges who are designated as Acting Justices of the Supreme Court for one full term or less. Specific duties for this position include assisting applicants with petitions and affidavits, staffing the Help Center, providing procedural information to unrepresented litigants, assisting in the use of Do-It-Yourself computer programs for generating court forms and information sheets, answering general public inquiries, providing forms, directing the public to appropriate departments, reviewing court papers, collecting and reporting statistical information, and acting as a liaison to statewide Help Center administration.

Education and Experience Information:
The candidate must have admission to the New York State Bar and two years of relevant legal experience, which may include up to 18 months of pre-admission experience.

Salary Information:
The base salary for the Senior Court Attorney position is $99,490, with an additional location pay of $4,920.
