Job Title: Senior Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel at the company is tasked with providing comprehensive global legal support across the organization. The role involves swiftly identifying complex legal issues presented by business partners, researching new legal challenges, and integrating legal risk management with the company’s objectives. Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting and negotiating various general and sophisticated commercial agreements, with a focus on commercial sales agreements in the Americas.
- Advising on and managing all other commercial legal matters that may arise in diverse areas such as antitrust, labor and employment, bankruptcy, clinical, and data privacy issues.
- Managing litigation and government investigations with the support of local and external counsel.
- Actively contributing to the creation and implementation of Legal Department processes and policies.
- Representing the Legal function in various leadership meetings and contributing to the development and good business conduct of the company's Americas commercial business.
- Managing a team, including at least one junior legal team member.
Education and Experience Information:
The essential requirements for the Senior Counsel position include:
- At least 7 years of practice as a US-licensed attorney within a nationally recognized law firm and in-house, preferably within the life sciences industry. Global experience is considered a plus.
- Excellent academic credentials and qualification as a lawyer (Bar member) in the United States.
- Experience in managing other lawyers and/or paralegals.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, including strategic thinking, mentoring, development of team members, and team building.
- Substantial deal and negotiation experience with a track record of leadership in executed transactions, such as partnerships, collaborations, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and research agreements.
- The ideal candidate should possess a positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively, and a strong desire to learn. They should be a team player with a "can do" attitude, capable of working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple projects.
- The candidate should be energetic, outgoing, self-motivated, and constructive in their approach, as well as flexible and adaptable to work in a complex, global environment cross-functionally and able to build relationships.
Additional qualifications that would be beneficial include previous experience in data privacy regulations and software licensing.
Salary Information:
The position offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan for eligible employees.
