Job Title: 2L Summer Associate
Job Responsibilities:
Recipients of the Wetmore 2L Fellowship will be involved in various roles and tasks typically assigned to junior associates. Their responsibilities include:
- Writing legal documents such as briefs, motions, contracts, and client memoranda.
- Assisting in drafting and negotiation sessions.
- Participating in depositions and witness preparation.
- Performing due diligence in corporate transactions.
- Working directly with seasoned lawyers on substantive client matters.
- Receiving mentorship and comprehensive practice and professional skills training.
Education and Experience Information:
To be eligible for the 2026 Wetmore 2L Fellowship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

- Geographical ties to the office location where the application is submitted.
- Ability to bring a diverse perspective to the firm due to adaptability, resilience, and life experiences.
- Demonstrated record of academic achievement, excellent writing and interpersonal skills, leadership, and community involvement.
Application Process:
Applications will be accepted from April 1 through July 11, 2025. Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis in accordance with school recruiting guidelines. All applicants must submit the following documents in form:
- Résumé
- Transcripts for all degrees (completed and in-progress)
- Personal statement of 500 words or less explaining the applicant's background, interest in the law firm, and contributions to diversity and inclusion.
Salary Information:
Summer associate compensation is set to align with first-year associate salaries at $225,000 annually for the class of 2025. This may be modified in the future. Health and wellness benefits and paid holidays may also be included.
Additional Fellowship Benefits:
- A paid summer associate position in a . office of the law firm following the second year of law school.
- A fellowship award of $50,000, paid in two installments: $10,000 upon acceptance of the 2L offer and $40,000 upon satisfactory completion of the Summer Associate Program and acceptance of a full-time associate offer following law school graduation.
- A team of attorney mentors during the Summer Associate Program.
- Participation in programs such as the Virtual Pre-Summer Associate Program Kick-Off, In-Person Fellowship Retreat, and Mentoring Circles with firm leaders.
- For the first two years as a full-time associate, Fellows will join the Wetmore Bridge Program, designed to support a seamless transition from law school to professional practice by cultivating meaningful, career-enhancing relationships.
