The Staff Attorney for the Farmworker Program will engage in representing agricultural workers in a variety of legal settings, including federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies. The attorney's caseload will primarily involve cases related to employment, housing, health and safety, civil rights, unemployment, and tax issues. In addition to litigation, the attorney will participate in non-litigation advocacy, community education, and outreach initiatives aimed at agricultural workers and community-based groups. An understanding and commitment to anti-bias principles, cultural knowledge, cultural humility, and addressing systemic racism and other forms of oppression are essential. Candidates should possess excellent legal and interpersonal communication skills and either be members of the Oregon bar, eligible for reciprocity, or willing to take the next bar exam. A high degree of initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are required. While the ability to speak, read, and write Spanish is preferred, it is not mandatory. An interest or experience in employment law is advantageous. Candidates should be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to meet client needs and must hold a valid driver’s license with a willingness to engage in occasional travel.

Salary Information:
The compensation for this position is based on a 35-hour work week. The salary range is $66,200 – $73,700 annually for candidates with 0-5 years of experience, $75,200 – $81,200 for those with 6-10 years of experience, and $82,700 – $105,200 for individuals with 11-30 years of experience. An additional annual compensation of $4,300 to $5,700 is available for bilingual ability, depending on proficiency. A full benefits package is offered, which includes individual and family health, vision, and dental insurance coverage, a 6% employer retirement contribution, generous paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, as well as paid moving expenses.

The position is open until filled, with the next review of applications scheduled to begin on April 25, 2025. Interested candidates should send a resume and letter of interest addressing their personal background, experiences, and how these have prepared them to contribute to the organization's commitment to cultural responsiveness and diversity.
