Job Title: Family Law Attorney - Part Time
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal consultations on family law matters, including protective orders, custody issues, property settlements, and support orders.
- Offer legal advocacy, information, and referrals to both residential and nonresidential clients.
- Attend court hearings as scheduled to represent clients in family law matters.
- Maintain active membership in the Texas Bar Association and other relevant organizations as determined by the organization.
- Read and interpret various legal documents, including operating manuals, professional journals, law books, and the Texas Family Code, to ensure effective client representation.
- Network with civil and criminal justice officials, as well as law enforcement, to facilitate client and community response.
- Produce legal documents clearly, concisely, and effectively, adhering to the standards of the legal profession, and create forms as required by the program.
- Maintain consistent and timely client contact, manage calendars, and organize both hard and electronic files while meeting all deadlines.
- File legal documents within the judicial courts.
- Maintain the required number of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) units as stipulated by the State Bar of Texas.
- Produce monthly statistical reports regarding legal services provided.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating an attorney referral list.
- Input data into the data management system.
Education and Experience Information:
- A Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an accredited law school is required.
- Must possess a license to practice law in the state of Texas.
- Familiarity with legal services, resources, and procedures available in DFW Metroplex counties is essential.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention, case management, and social work theory and ethics is highly desirable.
- Required experience includes knowledge of the criminal justice system, family violence, and family law.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working in a family law setting is preferred.
Salary Information:
- The position offers a rate of per hour.
