Job Title: SALT Senior Associate, Financial Services and Partnership Focus
Experience: 2+ years in state and local tax
Location: Los Angeles, CA and other locations in the United States

Job Summary:
The SALT Senior Associate, with a focus on financial services and partnerships, will use their industry knowledge and experience to provide tax advice to clients. This includes identifying potential tax issues, recommending alternative actions, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. The role also involves developing and maintaining relationships with state tax agencies and serving as the primary contact for clients.

Job Duties:

- Conduct research on tax issues and identify sources of information
- Apply firm standards for tax preparation and compliance
- Develop relationships with state tax agency personnel
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations while minimizing tax burden for clients
- Keep track of filing requirements and client-related information
- Utilize tax knowledge to accurately and efficiently prepare tax returns and price services
- Comply with SOX rulings and ensure engagement letters are adopted before work begins
- Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns and identify any issues
- Communicate with clients to gather information
- Prepare and review taxability matrices for client transactions
- Develop and implement methods to reduce taxes and expenses for clients
- Consider all state tax consulting sub-specialties for each client
- Interpret tax laws and client facts to maximize benefits
- Collaborate with other state tax specialists when needed
- Manage tax consulting projects and ensure compliance with firm policies
- Train staff on tax software tools
- Develop a deep understanding of one or more areas of taxation
- Manage specialization services efficiently
- Organize and conduct internal CPE training sessions
- Review basic tax provisions
- Apply firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48
- Assist others in learning and applying FAS 109 and FIN 48
- Review tax provisions and communicate with Assurance counterparts
- Introduce and develop new ideas to reduce taxes or expenses for clients
- Review studies of tax implications and offer alternative courses of action
- Assist with research and implementation of tax strategies
- Understand documentation associated with tax strategies
- Identify and leverage lessons learned from previous projects
- Suggest marketing approaches for new ideas
- Build client relationships and assist with business development
- Provide technical client service for state and local income/franchise tax issues
- Assist with tax planning, consulting, and negotiation of settlements for multi-state companies
- Manage projects efficiently and handle questions from tax agencies
- Manage billing and accounts receivable for projects
- Educate and advise professionals on state and local tax law
- Supervise work assignments of STS SALT Associates
- Provide performance feedback and assist with professional development
- Act as a mentor to STS SALT Associates

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or . preferred
- 2+ years of experience in state and local/multistate tax
- CPA certification or other relevant certification preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
- Ability to use tax software and research tools
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues
- Advanced knowledge of tax return forms
- People development and delegation skills
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary ,250, with the following ranges for specific locations:

- Maryland: $73,500 - $131,250
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $73,500 - $131,250
- Washington DC: $73,500 - $131,250
