Job Title: Tax Manager, Unclaimed Property Tax - State and Local Tax (SALT)

Job Responsibilities:
As an Unclaimed Property Tax Manager within the Multistate Tax Services group, the role involves providing tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse client base across various industries. The responsibilities include:
- Assessing clients' state and local tax burdens and recommending solutions that align with their overall business objectives and comply with state tax laws and rules.
- Assisting clients with compliance related to uncashed payroll checks, aged accounts receivable credits, and other types of abandoned and unclaimed property.
- Providing support to multi-state companies on state unclaimed property matters including audit defense, voluntary compliance, annual reporting, policy development, and consulting.
- Reviewing unclaimed property compliance processes and recommending improvements.
- Assisting audit teams with the review and analysis of unclaimed property reserves.
- Preparing clients for unclaimed property audits, reviewing document requests and audit assessments, and representing clients during audits.
- Researching and drafting technical memoranda on jurisdictional unclaimed property compliance rules.
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing staff within the department.

Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model with in-person co-location 2-3 days per week.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in state and local tax with a focus on Unclaimed Property tax.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One of the following active accreditations is required, in process, or willingness to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in the state of practice/primary office if eligible for the CPA exam.
- Licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) if not CPA eligible.
- Willingness to travel up to 10% based on client and industry needs.

Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as a Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM.
- Demonstrable tax knowledge across various state and local tax areas, including compliance, planning, analysis, and research.
- Previous consulting experience from a large accounting or law firm.
- Strong communication and advanced writing skills, comfortable with presentations across all organizational levels.
- Advanced knowledge of tax software like OneSource, GoSystems, and a strong interest in learning new technologies.

Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications, alongside organizational needs. The estimated range is $95,900 to $203,060. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case, and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Additionally, eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program may apply, contingent on individual and organizational performance.
