Job Overview:
A well-established law firm located in Newburgh, NY, is looking for a junior to mid-level Litigation Associate to join their team. The role will focus on complex construction and commercial litigation, offering opportunities for significant exposure to high-stakes cases, direct client interaction, and career growth. Duties:

  • Represent clients in complex construction disputes and commercial litigation cases.
  • Engage in direct client contact, conduct and defend depositions, and attend court conferences and oral arguments.
  • Perform legal research and draft pleadings and motions.
  • Handle all aspects of appellate filings, including drafting persuasive briefs, reviewing case records, and ensuring compliance with court rules.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients as part of the firm’s outside general counsel services.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of relevant experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or a related field.
  • Active New York State Bar license.
  • Prior experience in construction law, commercial litigation, contract drafting, negotiation, or arbitrations is highly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple assignments.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • An active New York State Bar license is required.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
  • Experience managing complex litigation and working on high-stakes cases.
