A distinguished law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy/Restructuring Shareholder or Partner with a minimum of 10 years of experience in bankruptcy law. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in handling bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases, and the ability to collaborate across practice areas. This role requires a strong focus on client representation in bankruptcy procedures, litigation, and distressed asset sales. A hybrid work arrangement may be available, and compensation will be commensurate with experience.

Duties:

  • Manage and litigate complex bankruptcy cases, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters.
  • Handle adversarial proceedings, contested matters, confirmation proceedings, and related bankruptcy disputes.
  • Advise clients on bankruptcy strategies and develop legal solutions tailored to their specific situations.
  • Work on distressed debts, bankruptcy work-outs, and the sale of distressed assets.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas such as banking, real estate, and commercial litigation.
  • Represent clients from a wide range of industries in bankruptcy courts.
  • Engage in business development, bringing in portable business and complementing the firm's existing client base.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in bankruptcy law.
  • Proficiency in managing cases in bankruptcy courts.
  • Extensive knowledge of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy processes.
  • Demonstrated experience with bankruptcy litigation, work-outs, distressed debt, and asset sales.
  • Strong knowledge of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, mechanics liens, and debt collection.
  • Experience in commercial litigation (preferred).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Admission to the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western District Courts of Texas.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic legal analysis.
  • Strong business development skills, with a portable book of business.
  • Proficiency in managing and handling a broad range of bankruptcy matters independently.
