We are dedicated to diversity and have been recognized with numerous awards and top rankings around the world. ## Position Summary White & Case is looking to hire a mid-level intellectual property litigation associate with a background in either electrical engineering or computer science to join our offices located in Silicon Valley, Washington DC, New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Houston, or Los Angeles. The ideal candidate should possess excellent research and drafting skills, and both the analytical rigor and creative flair required to translate large volumes of information into original legal arguments. The candidate should have a good basic grasp and experience in the areas pertinent to our work, and be a quick learner, open to new areas of knowledge and comfortable with on-the-job training. The candidate should also be a strong team player, independent and self-motivated, excited by the opportunities for learning and professional development, and eager to take on responsibility whenever possible. ## Our Practice Area Many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical, internet and technology companies, including major multinational corporations, turn to White & Case for their most important intellectual property needs. We provide practical solutions and counseling for our clients’ most complex issues, including bet-the-company litigation and ground-breaking, cross-border transactions. Our litigators have represented clients in matters before the USPTO, federal and state courts, as well as the International Trade Commission. We have a strong commitment to professional development, and believe in giving everyone a voice, and in giving associates significant responsibility at a relatively early stage of their careers. ## Duties and Accountabilities - Conducting brief or somewhat more complex research, or drafting of memoranda (search for judicature, commentaries to specific legal issues) - Support both patent counseling and patent litigation for matters that touch upon EE or CS - Communication with clients (via telephone, E-mail) - Involvement in due diligence – analysis of agreements in data room and their subsequent description - Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services to leading international and domestic corporate clients - Joining educational seminar and practice groups ## Qualifications - 3+ years of relevant law firm or in-house experience - Background in electrical engineering or computer science - Strong IP litigation background - Admitted to the Bar of the State the role will be located and practicing in, or eligible to take the bar exam or waive in - Admitted to the USPTO a plus - Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker - Commercial and business awareness - Ability to see the big picture - Outstanding communication and negotiation skills - Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects - Excellent drafting skills - Driven by professional growth - Strong professional presence - Client service focus - Team player - Strong judgment - Proactive, resourceful, takes initiative ## Location & Reporting This role can be based in Silicon Valley, Boston, NY, DC, Houston, Los Angeles or Miami.
