This position is used by various departments throughout the state and is primarily located in Montgomery. The Legal Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting research into legal issues arising in connection with the operation of state departments and agencies, in the preparation of basic legal documents, and in the handling of routine administrative duties. Qualifications The ideal candidate for the Legal Research Assistant position will possess the following qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited legal assistant or paralegal program • Possession of a legal assistant or paralegal certificate • One year of experience in legal research work OR • Graduation from a recognized school of law and eligibility to be admitted to the Alabama State Bar Examination Salary The salary for the Legal Research Assistant position is $35, - $61,. Applications must be submitted with a copy of the applicant's legal assistant certificate, paralegal certificate, or . diploma. Examination The Legal Research Assistant position is an open-competitive examination and applicants will be evaluated on their training and experience as shown on the application. The evaluation will comprise 100% of the applicant's final score for the open-competitive register.
