- Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law with a Juris Doctor degree
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to conduct legal research independently and apply the law to the facts
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research, analyze motions, and provide written recommendations
- Summarize and evaluate civil, criminal, family law, and probate matters
- Research and analyze policies and procedures related to court proceedings
- Coordinate with judicial officers and court staff for scheduling and coverage
- Respond to questions and provide legal guidance to court staff and judicial officers
- Train and oversee law students and volunteers
- Perform additional court-related duties as assigned
- Knowledge and abilities:
- Knowledge of legal research methods and materials
- Familiarity with civil law and possibly criminal, family, juvenile, or probate law
- Understanding of legal terms, procedures, and documents used in court
- Ability to plan, organize, and utilize traditional and computerized legal research
- Strong research, analysis, and communication skills
- Prioritization and time management abilities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and superiors
- Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited school of law and eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination

- Licensed to practice law in the state of California and a member in good standing of the California State Bar
- Valid California Class "C" driver's license or alternative mode of transportation
- Special requirements:
- Prohibited from practicing law, receiving fees, or representing a party as counsel while employed as a Law Clerk
- Approval required for any outside employment
