- Responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations for initiatives and projects
- Focus on large-scale and/or high financial-level projects with broad department and/or organizational impact and moderate level of risk
- Strategic partner and decision-maker with senior leaders
- Manages work independently
- Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen
- Determines methods and procedures on new assignments
- Contributes to overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department
- Uses professional legal concepts and principles to contribute to development of company's concepts and principles
- Provides instructions to junior members of the department and concise, timely briefings to senior level business and legal management
- Works on complex problems requiring in-depth evaluation of various factors
- Serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals
- Assesses and mitigates risk
- Reports identified business exposure and associated risks to management
- JD and current license to practice law required
- Minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure
- Experience managing outside counsel strongly preferred
- Experience in the commercial, individual market preferred
- Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CAA)
- Experience working with Operations and managing relationships with state and federal regulatory agencies
- Familiarity with provider contracting and network adequacy
- Familiarity working with Executive Leadership and Government Relations
