Computer Scientist, GS 07-09 Duties for GS-07: The candidate performs routine tasking, or assists others with more complex assignments. Performs a variety of specific duties to develop knowledge and skill in applying evaluation methods and techniques in support of system acquisition. Participates in conducting studies to identify computer system deficiencies. Carries out special projects and assignments in the development of software and solutions to be used by higher-level computer scientist, scientist, contractors and/or customers. Duties for GS-09: Assists in applying methods and functions of program modeling/ simulating and algorithm techniques to segments of a study or project. Applies system evaluation methods and techniques to portions of a larger project/study. Assist senior specialists in developing research/development. testing/evaluating or implementation, and acquisition strategies. Carries out special projects and assignments in the development of software and solutions to be used by higher-level computer scientists, contractors and/or customers.

Qualification and Experience Qualifications: The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. For GS-07: Must have completed or will complete a 4 year course of study leading to a Bachelor's from an accredited institution no later than 31 August 2023 AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following: A) One full year (18 semester hours or equivalent) of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree, e.g., LL.B, J.D., LL.M, Ph.D.; in a field that provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work; or one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-05. B) Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following: a) Class standing-upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision; b) Grade Point Average 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in major field or the required courses in major field completed during the final 2 years of curriculum. c) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society. If qualifying based on class standing or honor society membership, provide appropriate documentation. C) A combination of graduation education and experience described above that when combined meets 100% of the qualifications requirements of this position.
