Job Overview:
A growing law firm is seeking a lateral Intellectual Property (IP) Attorney with 2-5 years of experience to support its expanding litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation, as well as the ability to assist with various intellectual property matters. The position offers a collaborative work environment and flexible work arrangements, including remote opportunities for the right candidate.

Location:

  • Pittsburgh, PA

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
  • Take and defend fact and expert depositions in IP litigation cases.
  • Assist with patent litigation, PTAB proceedings, trademark litigation, opposition and cancellation proceedings, copyright litigation, and trade secret litigation.
  • Collaborate with the team to handle complex IP legal matters.
  • Provide strategic counsel and assist with related areas of intellectual property law.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in intellectual property law.
  • Experience in patent litigation, trademark litigation, or other IP-related disputes.
  • Familiarity with PTAB proceedings, opposition and cancellation proceedings, and trade secret litigation.
  • A technical background is preferred.
  • Admission to the state Bar, with the ability to sit for or waive into the Pennsylvania Bar if not already admitted.
  • Ability to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a plus.
  • Patent prosecution experience is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Technical education or background in a relevant field (preferred).

Certifications:

  • Admission to a state Bar (required).
  • USPTO eligibility (preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Experience in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret litigation.
  • Deposition experience (fact and expert).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
  • Technical background and familiarity with IP matters (preferred).
