Job Title: Employment Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm located in Stamford, CT is seeking an associate-level attorney with 2 to 5 years of experience to join its labor and employment practice. This role offers the opportunity to handle a variety of matters, including traditional labor and union issues, discrimination laws, wage and hour laws, and general employment-related litigation. The successful candidate will work closely with partners and clients to provide high-quality legal services while developing expertise in labor and employment law.

Duties:

  • Research labor and employment matters
  • Draft employee handbooks and policies
  • Prepare position statements and responses to administrative charges (., EEOC, state human rights commissions)
  • Communicate with clients to gather information for position statements
  • Draft motions for state and federal court proceedings
  • Respond to discovery requests
  • Prepare deposition outlines, exhibits, and witnesses, including participation in depositions as first or second chair
  • Assist in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, and trials
  • Participate in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials as second chair, and first chair where appropriate
  • Meet annual billing requirements (1800 billable hours)

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience in labor and employment law or litigation
  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required)
  • Admission to the Connecticut Bar or the ability to waive in (preferred)
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
  • An active member in good standing with the Bar
  • Strong research, writing, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly absorb and understand new information
  • High standards of professionalism, conscientiousness, and dedication
  • Flexible, cooperative attitude and ability to work with diverse personalities
  • Military experience is a plus

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required)
  • Admission to Connecticut Bar (preferred, or ability to waive in)
